Sooke Sea Cadets

Sea cadets have the opportunity to gain school and other credits for Phase training, summer courses, and certain qualifications. In addition, cadets may be given credit within the cadet program for other activities. For more information on each school credit please search the TRAX course code (e.g. UXCA 12) on the BC Ministry of Education Course Registry.

SCHOOL CREDIT OPPORTUNITIES
LOCAL TRAINING	UXCA 10 – FOUR CREDITS	UXCA 11 – FOUR CREDITS	UXCA 12 – FOUR CREDITS
LOCAL TRAINING	Granted for completion of Phase III at the local corps. If you are fourteen or older, you will be placed directly into this phase on joining the corps.	Granted for completion of Phase IV at the local corps. If you are fifteen or older, you will be placed directly into this phase on joining the corps.	Granted for completion of Phase V at the local corps. You will move into this phase on completion of Phase IV.
SUMMER TRAINING
SUMMER TRAINING	Granted on completion of any three week (Basic) summer course. Granted on completion of an Intermediate six-week summer course. If you have completed Phase III, you qualify to take an Intermediate course.	Granted on completion of an Advanced six-week summer course.	If you have completed Phase IV, you qualify to take an Advanced course, or to be employed as a staff cadet, if you have reached the age of sixteen.
OTHER QUALS	UPOW 10 – TWO CREDITS	WORK EXPERIENCE	GRAD TRANSITIONS
OTHER QUALS	Waller offers a SCUBA program, qualifying cadets as PADI open water divers. Cadets who later acquire Adventure or Rescue Diver qualifications also qualify for credit under UPAP 11 and UPRD 12 respectively.	Cadets employed as staff cadets during the summer are able to accrue hours towards work experience programs.	Cadets may be able to gain fitness credits if they are members of physically active teams, on certain summer courses, or employed in certain roles as staff cadets.

Cadets may gain credit for various activities external to corps and summer training.

Community Service	Phase I through IV		Phase V
	Under construction.		Cadets have an optional training requirement available under Phase V to undertake 40 hours of community service external to corps events. Cadets who do any volunteer or unpaid amateur work, including any undertaken at school, are encouraged to determine if their activity qualifies for Phase V credit.
